I wish the memories in my head were pictures so I could more easily share them - but my friendship with Jon wasn’t an Instagram moment but more of a ongoing dialogues - full of laughter honesty hopes dreams and fears - and always about how to raise the strong girl that Emma has become - the woman he hoped she would be - (my girls and their journey) the partnership with Meredith, the dreams he had for the family, nature and how to commune with it, and our shared American heritage. I am so very sad to have lost him before all these things have played out - but I know that the love he has for Meredith and Emma and the gifts he gave us all with his friendship will play out for generations to come. I will truly miss him (and will probably keep seeking his insight somewhere in the back of my brain) and I hope to see him live on in the example he set for us all.
